Celebrating the Love, Companionship, and Joy Our Animals Bring Into Our Lives

In honor of Shakyamuni Buddha's Parinirvana on May 31, we warmly invite the community to a special Animal Blessing ceremony celebrating compassion for all sentient beings. This meaningful gathering offers an opportunity to bring beloved pets and honor animals of all kinds--those at home, in the wild, and those who have passed--while reflecting on the Buddha's teachings of kindness, interdependence, and loving care for every living being.

Through prayers, blessings, and moments of quiet reflection, we dedicate merit for the well-being, health, and liberation of animals everywhere. This heartfelt event is open to all, creating a gentle space to deepen compassion and rejoice in the precious connection we share with animals.

Opening remarks, brief musical offering by cellist Michael Fitzpatrick, and animal blessing led by Telo Tulku Rinpoche.

Pet Blessing: 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm

Closing Words, Group Blessing & Moment of Gratitude: 4:15 pm - 4:30 pm

Social Time & Pet Mingling : 4:30 pm - 5 pm

All pets must be on a leash or in a crate. We would like to reserve the first half-hour to animals other than dogs. Cat, bird, bunny, and other non-dog parents and guardians, please arrive early—especially if your pet is afraid of dogs. If your pet is uncomfortable around others, please reach out to schedule a private visit.

His Eminence Telo Tulku Rinpoche

His Eminence Telo Tulku Rinpoche was born in 1972 in Philadelphia, USA to a family of Kalmyk Mongolian immigrants. From 1992 to 2023, His Eminence Telo Tulku Rinpoche served as the Shadjin Lama, Supreme Lama of Kalmykia. He was instrumental in the revival of Buddhism in Kalmykia and Buddhist territories in Russia. Since 2014, he has served as the Honorary Representative of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to Mongolia, Russia and other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Michael Fitzpatrick

Michael Fitzpatrick has performed the Musical Keynotes to set the tone for His Holiness The XIVth Dalai Lama’s Public Talks and Teachings around the world over the past 30 years.  A virtuoso-cellist and 5-String Electric Cellist, he is the recipient of The Prince Charles Award for Musical Excellence conferred by HRH The Prince of Wales - now King Charles. He has performed for world leaders including the late Pope Francis at The Vatican, and appeared as soloist at the Hollywood Bowl, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the United Nations, and the United States Capitol West Lawn. www.michaelfitzpatrick.com
