It’s Giving Tuesday, a Day of Munificent Sharing

A piece of the sacred cloth called the Golden Thread, our gift to you for your generosity

The Story of the Sacred Buddha Cloth and Why it is Rare and Meaningful to the Recipient

This sacred cloth, we call The Golden Thread,  is a swathe of fabric made of golden-colored thread that shrouded the world's most revered Golden Buddha holy statue currently residing in the sanctum of the Mahabodhi Temple located in Bodhgaya, India. The Mahabodhi Temple is the biggest pilgrimage site of Buddhists who come from all over the world. Close to the temple lives the famous and ancient Bodhi Tree where Siddhartha Gautama Buddha, age 35, sat and meditated for 49 days and achieved enlightenment in the years between 528 and 445 BCE. The golden statue is from the 10th or 11th century manifesting the earth-touching gesture which symbolizes the moment he overcame his final obstacle in liberation in this wondrous historical site.

The Golden Thread was tenderly divided into a few pieces beautifully sewn for the purpose of giving each piece as a token of appreciation to our loyal and generous donors on Giving Tuesday. Truly a special gift to place on your altar or anywhere in your home that has a spiritual significance, showering you with infinite blessings! Due to the size of the entire shroud, we only have a limited number of pieces of this Golden Thread to offer. If you are meant to be one of the fortunate recipients, we thank you deeply!

Giving Tuesday Is Today, December 3

We hope that you will continue to give the MUCH NEEDED support to the monks at the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery.  THEY RELY ON US. Donations will go toward supporting the education program, the food fund and the health and wellness program benefitting all the monks.

We thank our generous donors who have offered to match the funds up to $5000 to help you double up your generosity and merit! For your donation of $308.00 or more, you will receive a very special Sacred Buddha Cloth, a piece of The Golden Thread, to show our appreciation for your selfless giving, or dana.

On this ninth annual GIVING TUESDAY we are relying on your support for our monk community. There are many options to be of help if you would like to make your donation today and receive a piece of The Golden Thread.

Here are additional ways to help:

A) Sponsor a monk. Join our Monk Sponsorship Program.

B) Ask for  Prayer Requests offering PUJAS (monk prayers) to honor loved ones who have passed on or those special people in your life who are experiencing challenging moments in their lives. They will be forever grateful to you for this gesture of love and concern. Videos of the actual PUJA ceremonies will be sent to the person making the request.

C) Simply donate any amount. Your generosity will be appreciated a million fold!

We wish you blessings a million times over as you reside in the loving, kind, and compassionate heart of the Buddha. May you, in turn, live and do good deeds to benefit humanity.
