April 25, 2025 marks the 36th birthday of His Holiness the 11th Panchen Lama, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima. At 6 years of age, he was recognized as the reincarnation of the 10th Panchen Lama by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in 1995, but was abducted by the Chinese government shortly after. He has not been seen in public since. Despite his absence, Tibetans continue to celebrate his birthday and pray for his release. To learn more about the Panchen Lama, click HERE.
