A Day When Positive and Negative Actions Are Multiplied 10 Million Times in Their Spiritual Power

Lhabab Duchen, November 22, 2024, is one of four important holidays in Tibetan Buddhism. It celebrates the Buddha’s return to Earth from the God Realm of the Thirty-Three, where he went to teach the Dharma to the gods, including his mother, Mayadevi, who died shortly after his birth and was reborn in that realm. His teachings repaid his mother’s kindness and liberated her from samsara. The Buddha returned after his disciple Maudgalyayana begged him to continue his teachings on Earth.

How to Generate Merits and Receive a Rare Gift

By reciting mantras and prayers and engaging in virtuous acts, you can greatly increase your positive merits. Another way is the powerful act of dana, which means “generosity” in Buddhism. Now is a great opportunity to practice the virtuous deed of giving by donating to the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery Fund. Proceeds will support over 400 monks who work hard in providing spiritual sustenance toward all of humanity.

We hope you remember the monks who will be performing pujas throughout the day of Lhabab Duchen. Pujas are ceremonies of chanting, praying and making offerings to celebrate Buddha's life, his deeds and teachings.

What Is a Sacred Buddha Cloth, and Why Is It Specially Unique, Rare and Significant?

This sacred cloth is made of golden-colored thread that shrouded the most revered Golden Buddha holy statue currently residing in the sanctum of the Mahabodhi Temple located in Bodhgaya, India, the biggest pilgrimage site of Buddhists who come from all over the world. The golden statue is from the 10th or 11th century manifesting the earth-touching gesture which symbolizes the moment he overcame his final obstacle in liberation in this wondrous historical site.

The Golden Thread was tenderly cut into a few pieces and were sewn to be given as sacred offerings to those who give generously in support of the monks at the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. Truly a special gift to place on your altar or anywhere in your home that has a spiritual significance, showering you with infinite blessings!
